After moving from the Netherlands to Wales, I bought my first digital camera in 2003 as I missed not being able to use my dad's digital camera. I've posted selections of my pictures online on various websites through the years. I'm now hoping to collect them all in one single place at digii.eu.

The photographs cover a variety of subjects: castles, nature and surfing are some of the returning ones.

Photographic effects

Most of my photographs are unedited and presented pretty much as they come from my camera. There are a few obvious exceptions in the photographic effects section: panorama photos and polar planets.

The panorama photos are created by stitching together multiple shots and the polar planets are created by applying a polar coordinates filter to a 360° panorama shot.

Equipment

From 2003 until the screen broke in Autumn 2008 after 28,000+ photographs I used a Canon PowerShot G3. I considered replacing it with an SLR, but the lack of a swivel screen and full HD movies made me decide against one.

Currently I use a Canon PowerShot SX1 IS. It's a bit of a compromise, as it has a less sensitive lens than the old G2 and the focussing isn't as quick as it could be, but it does have an amazing optical zoom (20x), a swivel screen and live preview including panorama assist.
